TIL: Kagi smallweb

Published August 25, 2025

I talke about Kagi in my post about paying for the things we use. It's a wonderful search engine that puts results front and center. TIL that they have an initiative to surface people's blogs. Things written by humans, for humans. Not company sites, not AI generated, actual human content. It's called Kagi smallweb and it's something like what Stumble Upon had been like, if it had been limited to small, human, sites.

There's a curated list of sites that they pull from and it's open source, so anyone can contribute sites. The rule is that, while you can propose adding your own site, you need to add 2 additional ones with it. I think this is a great idea - both the smallweb initiative they're doing and the requirement to add more than just your own site - and I hope it does really well. And yes, I pushed up a PR to add my own site as well as those of 2 other people who I think have interesting blogs.
