Should I add a recipe collection to my site?

Published June 23, 2025

I have a lot of recipes. My recipes. My parents’ recipes. My grandparents’ recipes. From my time in culinary school. Lots of recipes. So I got to thinking as to whether I should add a recipe collection over here. So I asked on Mastodon.

So far everyone that’s bothered to answer has said I should. I figured I’d ask here as well. You can go vote on the poll or you can reach out to me and let me know if you’d be interested in me adding a recipe collection.

One thing that did come out of this is that I learned that there is a markup language for recipes - CookLang. I haven’t seen a Python parser for it but, apparently, there is a Rust one that has bindings. But I may go the more fun route of writing my own. Writing the parser may happen even if I decide not to do the recipes - it just sounds like a fun project.

Anyway, reach out to me and let me know what you think. About posting recipes and about writing a parser.
