PyCon US 2026 is coming!

Published November 03, 2025

The organizers of PyCon US decided to scare a lot of people on Halloween this year. They opened the CFP on Halloween. This is scary. This is also exciting.

If you have something you want to talk about that you think will be interesting to at least some part of the Python community I highly encourage you to submit a proposal to talk about it. Check out the proposal guidelines.

Last year I took the leap and submitted a talk (it wasn't accepted.) I then submitted, and gave, that same talk to the Maintainers Summit. This year I've proposed 2 talks:

If I think of a third one I might submit that too. If you have something you think might be interesting to people, write it up. If you want someone to look at it, reach out to me and I'll try to help. You can click the checkbox for the mentorship program (I did) and get someone who's done this before to look at your proposal and give feedback.

Since you've read this far I can assume that you're planning on attending PyCon US this year. If you are planning on attending and enjoy baseball you might be interested in coming with some folks to see either a Dodgers game ahead of the conference or an Angels game after the first sprint day.

I hope to see you in Long Beach this May. And I hope you do take the plunge and submit a talk.
